Itinerary

Corcovado & South Valleys


DAY 1 - Arrival to San José
Arrival. Welcome at the airport. Transfer to the Hotel. Overnight in San José, where we prepare ourselves for an early departure next day towards Zona de Los Santos to start our experience.


DAY 2 - San José / Irazú Volcano / Valle De Los Santos
We Start the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel in San José. To begin the adventure, take Highway 2 South, leaving San José, with the purpose of reaching Santa María de Dota, in the Los Santos area. On the way, we suggest to visit IrazúVolcanoNational Park, the highest volcano in Costa Rica with 3432 meters above sea level. Lodging in a nice and cozy mountain hotel, famous for been a pioneer in the area and because of its location, from where you can admire the breathtaking view of the mountains and coffee plantations. Once you have checked in the hotel, we will depart for the visit to Biocoffee Adventure Tour at Finca Sol Colibrí y Beneficio Ecológico Montañas del Diamante. You will learn about the complete production process of organic coffee, an internationally recognized quality as one of the best coffees of the world due to its flavour and aroma.


DAY 3 - Valle De Los Santos
Breakfast in the in the terrace of the Hotel. Morning Tour to Extreme Forest Park, located in Providencia, in the interior of the Los Santos Forest Reserve, where we will enjoy several ropes course activities such as Canopy tour, rappel, tree climbing and single cable walk, to liberate all our energy outdoors surrounded by nature. Afternoon return to the hotel. Free afternoon to explore the area. Lodging at a hotel of Los Santos area.


DAY 4 - Valle De Los Santos/Valle De El General
Breakfast with mountain flavour, at the Hotel. Quetzales Watch Tour, to observe and admire this magnificent bird in its natural environment along the trails of one of the few refuges that still prevail for its protection. At noon we depart from the area of Valles de Los Santos to head to Valle de El General. We cross Cerro de la Muerte going down through dense forest to San Isidro, interesting city that represents the door to Southern Zone of Costa Rica. Lodging at a booked hotel. Free afternoon to visit the city and enjoy sitting at the Central Park, visit ecological centers in the surroundings, do a nocturnal canopy tour, canyoning or wait for the night for some entertainment.


DAY 5 - Valle De El General

Breakfast at the Hotel. Today we will enjoy the Tour to Nauyaca Waterfall, impressive fall formed in the BarucitoRiver closet o the mountains that surround San Isidro, located 15 kilometres from the city. We will ride the horses for a short period, going into the forest, to reach don Lulo´s farm, where we will enjoy a delicious typical lunch in a Costa Rican country side environment. At the waterfall you can take a refreshing deep. After finishing this tour you will return to Valle de El General. The rest of the day you may rest and look forward for a nice dinner in town. Lodging at booked hotel.


DAY 6 - Valle De El General/ Uvita De Osa

Breakfast at the Hotel. Start your way to the pacific coast leaving San Isidro, taking the panoramic road to Dominical, a small coastal town 36 km away. The climate varies from cool in the mountains to humid hot, caracteristic of the TropicalForest. We head to Rancho La Merced, at La Uvita, where we will enjoy a horseback ride tour in the unpopulated Hermosa Beach, including a nice trail through virgen forest of the Nacional Wildlife Refuge. The alternative here is to visit the Bejuco Waterfall and take a deep in the pools of the river. Lodging at Hacienda Jabes, in Uvita de Osa.


DAY 7 - Uvita De Osa / Marino Ballena National Park
Brekfast at the Hotel. Visit BallenaMarineNational Park, one of the parks with more marine life present. At this place, it is frequent the sightings of whales and dolphins. Afternoon free to enjoy the surrounding beaches or take a dolphin watch tour. Also you can visit the town of Dominical, to go surfing or enjoy the beach. Lodging at Hacienda Jabes.


DAY 8 - Uvita De Osa / Sierpe / Corcovado
Breakfast at the Hotel. Following the nice Costanera Road going South, we pass Palmar Sur on the way to Sierpe. There will be a boat waiting to take you to Poor Man´s Paradise, in Drake Bay. To get there you have to cross along the mangroves of the Sierpe river all the way to the mouth and the Pacific Ocean. Free afternoon to enjoy the secluded surroundings of the hotel in the neighborhood of the CorcovadoNational Park. Lunch and dinner at the hotel.


DAY 9 - Corcovado National Park
Breakfast at the Hotel. Boat transfer to the San Pedrillo Station of the CorcovadoNational Park. Here you will explore flora and fauna through the trails. Lunch in the Station. To return, you may choose to hike back or join the boat to the hotel (aproximately 2 hours hike). Dinner and lodging at Poor Man´s Paradise.


DAY 10 - Corcovado / Caño Island
Breakfast at the Hotel. Tour to CañoIsland, for hiking in the trails of the island and snorkeling the clear waters. “Pic-Nic” lunch type in the island. Return to the hotel at mid afternoon. Dinner and lodging at Poor Man´s Paradise.


DAY 11 - Corcovado / San José
Breakfast and early morning boat Transportation to Sierpe where we will get on board the land transportation to San José. You also have the option to take a domestic flight form Palmar Sur to San José. On the way back you can take the advantage of visiting the indigenous precolombian Stone SpheresPark, characteristic of this area, or other indigenous towns over the main road. Return to San José. Lodging in San José.


DAY 12 - San José / Your Hometown

Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer out to the Internationa Airport.

End of the trip.
